And I'll add:

6)  The Licensee shall use the Station for the purpose of self-training
in
communication by radio telecommunications,  (BR68 item 1).


Contesting can be shown to satisfy the fundamental purpose of our
licence on a number of levels, it's all about exchanging accurate
information as quickly and clearly as possible and in maximising the
technical performance of the station we have.  I can think of many areas
of professional radio usage where the skills from contesting could be
applied.

I'm not sure that the same could be said of some of the other licence
usage that I hear.
