Hi
In this year's 80M club contests series the timing was changed when BST
started, such that the contests were started 1 hour earlier. I would be
interested to hear what other GM and possibly other Northerly contesters
think of the change. Personally I feel that this has spoilt this contest
for me due to the practically non-existent GM to G propagation, I doubt I
will enter next year as I have better things to do with my "radio" time than
spend one and a half hours a week to work 20 or 30 stations, once
summer-time kicks in.
I know a similar argument has been aired here before in connection with GM's
and AFS. As someone who has lived in the Midlands until last year I have
experienced AFS from both ends and I simply will not bother entering AFS
from here as I know from listening from the Midlands that I will be simply
buried by very loud G's. However I think the case is different in the 80M
CC series as the time change has seriously disadvantage northern station for
no great advantage down South. I believe the main argument was that some
people felt they were staying up too late?
I have operated for De Montfort University ARS for the last three 80M CC
series.
Alex
