I only hope that commonsense will prevail, and that this "/A" idea will be dropped.
However just in case there's further argument made in its favour, it is perhaps worth pointing out that no other country in Europe (or indeed, as far as I can tell from my logs, in the whole world) which currently uses /A as a callsign suffix in this way. Yes, we in the UK and a few others (eg Germany) used to do this years ago, but today no-one does.
As has been mentioned by others previously, it would be much tidier and user-friendly if visiting amateurs could use the 'major' prefixes of the UK, i.e G, GM, etc (rather than M, MM etc) as their country indicator. Sorry, but M/W1ABC just looks and feels daft as compared with G/W1ABC.
