Chris

Thanks again for the points - you were a genuine 59 here on an inverted
v @ 90ft on Anglesey Island. Also worked a /mm station using 2.5 watts
to a piece of wire at one point. Blessed with a low noise environment
here in central Anglesey.

I won't bother commenting on G3LETs carping but quite happy to listen to
any constructive criticism as it all helps to improve for future
contests. First time out for me in this contest and I enjoyed my
supporting role. Especially enjoyed using Starlog for the first time -
very easy to use for such a feature rich program and (unlike CT, and
others which I have seen fail on occasions with big multi multi
networked operations) did an excellent job for us - made passing mults
etc very easy.

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] RE. GB5HQ

Just read the thread criticising the ops at GB5HQ, and I for one am in
support of the guys who gave up their weekends to go and operate with
strange equipment and antennas from another hams shack.

I managed 6 bands on phone, with by far the hardest being the 160M
band. The main reason was the high noise level the guys in Sterling were
experiencing, but as soon as the op in Wales took over I was through
first call. I have limited space for antennas and Use a trapped dipole
on 40M, 80M, and 160M at about 25ft at its highest point with about 10ft
at the ends. This was also my first contact in 20 years of operating
using my own call on 160M. This was also the highlight of the weekend
for me..

The rest of the time I was on 10M getting the European country score
up for the Wythall radio clubs annual dxcc challenge.

If Peter, G3LET, thinks the ops were poor then maybe he is prepared to
give up one of his summer weekends and wants to be part of the team. He
would then be in the hot-seat trying to pull out a small signal like
mine out of the noise on 160M in the middle of summer with S9 of hiss
and crackle in his headphones for a couple of hours driving him mad!!!!
