HI CALLUM. 

Keep it simple, you need 2 x pc's and a network cable.  Big knob uses PC A........Little Knob uses PC B.... Spotter finds a new one and kicks main op...Ive got a new one....press A-B switch on the FT1K.....work the station and away on your run freq whilst little knob tunes to the next one....

Simple but effective.....pile of ATU's of course for auto band changing and youve got the makings of a very simple, but effective station.
