I believe the purpose of 3830, and this reflector, is not to satisfy egos for many. It's so that many entrants, and non-entrants, can do an initial comparison of how well they did, and perhaps take action to improve. If we waited for the final results to see how well we did, self-improvement would slow to a snail's pace. Big US guns may post to humiliate their rivals, but the average contester needs the feedback of quick comparison. I post to help others see how well they did, and I am glad they post because it helps me.
Of course, you could compare without posting yourself.

No Justin,

What I am saying is that for a relatively small contest like IOTA Eleven
Months and counting is too long to get everything 'wrapped up'.

Even the IARU bash can turn things round, contest to certificates in
seven months, and they take a very longwinded route to reach the
winners.

Perhaps this thread has become too convoluted.

As an aside I would never post my scores to 3830 - to me that is a
pointless ego-trip for many. Interim/Claimed/Unchecked scores are a
waste of time/space/bandwidth.

You enter, make a submission if you wish, hopefully get an
acknowledgement of receipt [either by e-mail or on a weblist - no need
for claimed scores to be shown] , and then once the closing date has
passed, wait for the results [adjudicated and finalised] to be
posted/advised within a reasonable timescale, and maybe look forward to
another bit of wallpaper.

Those who enter 'electronically' could, and should, to my way of
thinking be advised of the final results/UBNs automatically.
