Hi list

A tad off topic, please excuse me.

I am a dyed in the wool HF contest man as many of you will know. However,
back in the seventies, I used to run Meteor Scatter on 2m, using the cutting
edge technology of the time. This was high speed CW ( about 60/80 wpm)
generated if I recall by one of the very early memory keyers. Receive was
via a tape recorder slowed down as required for copy. Of course this had the
downside of reducing the audio tone, so one had to become adept at copying
CW at 200Hz or less! Issues of DUBUS of that era record the dawn tests
carried out with Klaus/DL7QY in Berlin.

Sadly, today, although good software exists for slowing down the HSCW (
thanks Ray/FON), the mode tends to appeal to operators from the digital age
who struggle to copy CW even at low speeds., and getting skeds on this mode
is very difficult. K1JT ( see recent Radcom article) has written a superb
suite of software for various bands and modes e.g. 2m tropo, 2m EME, 6m MS
et al, capable of copying below the noise.

I am currently interested in JT6, the prog. for 6m MS. I use an external
sound card fro digital modes in conjunction with the micoKeyer interface.
Previously there was no provision in the WSJT suite for using other then the
default sound card, but the latest version clearly permits this to be done.
Unfortunately the documentation has not yet caught up with the software, and
I just cannot hack it. I have asked live on the ON4KST list and also emailed
the author to no avail. So if anybody knows how this may be done, or knows a
man who can I would be grateful for information.

My Acom 1000 is itching to put 400watts up my massive ( NOT!) 2el quad for
6m. There is no way to make F2 QSOs for a few years so MS is one of the few
games in town!
Double hop Es helped my 100w to VE last year, so who knows what might be
possible? Double hop MS; most unlikely. Es-MS hmm....

Thanks for the bandwidth
