Hello all
Decided to do 15m Single-band (Unassisted) this year - knowing that it would
be difficult at this point in the sunspot cycle. However the band was in
good shape on both days - perhaps not quite so good on Sunday. Took 8.5 hrs
to work 100 countries on Saturday. On both days propagation was poor to N.A.
from here - struggled to work even Zone 4. On Sunday the band went dead if I
beamed anywhere North of East or West. We lost a.c. mains power overnight
so just as well that I was not using the other bands.
Ended up working lots of 1-point Eu QSOs e.g. 432 QSOs with DL stations
which included 72 Qs with the new (?) DO stations - I think they are VHF
licencees who have recently been allowed on HF - a great boost to activity.
Great to be called by DT8A, OY1CT and lots of African DX - 5X1GS, 5R8FU,
7Q7HB, TT8PK, 5H3EE, TU5JM - also seemed to be a lot more activity from ZS
than in the past. Last QSO was at 1839z with TF60IRA for a double mult.
Wooden spoon for operating goes to T70A who was 59+ but ignored all my
efforts to correct my callsign !
1701 QSOs, 122 countries, 27 zones, 314986 pts (1.26 pts/QSO = poor)
73
