OK
You can ping C1 from C2 and C1 to C2?
Can you ping Router from C1 and C2 ?
If so....
If you have a ADSL Router, and two PC's try the following, in this sequence:
Switch off Computer 1.
Reboot Computer 2
On Computer 2, (testing at each stage, ie Open Internet Explorer, test connection and then CLOSE Internet Explorer, before going to next test...this is important, DO NOT MINIMISE):
1. Disable ANY Firewall Software
2. Disable ANY Antivirus Software
3. Disable ANY Other SPAM or MALWARE Filtering.
4. Reset Internet Explorer Security Settings to Low
5. At the command prompt type IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS
If you connection then comes back, at any of the above stages, then you know whats causing the problem.
If you are using a ADSL Modem, plugged in via USB to Computer 1, and Computer 2 connected via Cat5 or Wireless Lan to Computer 1, repeat the above with Computer 1 switched on, and start the above sequence on Computer 1.
By the fact that you can Ping / See Computer 1 from Computer 2, and so on, the problem is likely to be security settings on Computer 2. The only other thing is, Network Transport, but we won't go down that route till you've tried the above.

Thanks to everyone that has responded. I've tried all suggestions but no
progress. Traceroute and external pinging cannot be accessed from C2.
It's beginning to look like C1 is preventing internet access. I have
checked Firewall settings and all seem ok.
Not a good day. The freezer packed in also yday so I have had to go out
and buy a new one!
