[UK-CONTEST] It's a conspiracy

7 September I received an email from BT : "Good news! BT Total Broadband
is here! We’ve made exciting changes to BT Broadband – changes that can
expand and enrich your online experience, enabling you to take your
high-speed broadband beyond the internet into a world of wider
possibilities."

Yep my online experience was sure enriched.

One week later, since presumably I had not taken up the offer, my very
established DSL modem and two networked computer system experienced
internet problems, as I indicated in a previous posting. I managed to
beat the conspiracy by going back to a configuration I had over two
years ago.

Aha, they said, the b---er has sussed us. Try Plan B. And so, now every
evening my internet connection drops out somewhere around 2130 to 2200.
Shades of the old dial up system of a few years ago. After over 40
physical tries we manage to get a connection!! Sometimes.

So, I gave in and ordered the new system, being careful to chose items
that wouldn't cost me anything, including, would you believe, a Wireless
Access Point / DSL modem. The order placement didn't ease the situation
though.

The package arrived today. OK it's free but the unit is in a large
plastic box so I am anticipating RFI problems.

I suppose the marketing philosophy is to make the situation so bad
before you install that you will be pleased of anything once the big
plastic box is connected.

Hopefully (or not) I will get my new password etc tomorrow to fully
install it.

Anyone got a Strowger exchange for sale? Anyone better go before the 807
packs in.
