It would be nice to see more on contesting in RadCom. Maybe if there was a little more and some articles on how to get started then some of the new guys into the hobby would have a go. It is something we encourage at my local club, and we openly invite all new licensees to attend the events (field day etc) and have a go. Most of them are turning into good operators and maybe in a few years time we will be a top competitive team.
In saying this when I am out and about and get talking to newcomers they always ask where can they find the information on contesting and dxing, be it HF or VHF/UHF, and I will admit that other than trawling the web there is not much out there to give them the info. Again at club level we try to help and have recently started to have a night where we try to encourage them to have a go at dxing using the clubs kit.

Let's take a reality check here. Radcom provides what the UK
members want, and that is not contests, period. That may be
a sadness to us, but it is the reality.
One might argue that RSGB have not provided leadership, but
that is not the present issue. The country as a whole is
disinterested in participative sport, as evidenced by our
poor record in competition in various sports, and our
concurrent high position in the obesity league. It might be
unfair on RSGB therefore to criticise them is this regard
( can't believe I just said that ;-0 )

Now the question is should RadCom be increased in size or
some other regular
articles removed?
What would you like removed so that more pages on contesting
can be added?
By the way I have no connection with the RSGB apart from
being a member.
