Hi Nigel

I think you're getting too comfortable with the 80m push-the-F1-button
contests! Conditions were cr*p on 20m but I was working one a minute for
the first half hour, the band was very noisy and I had already heard a
couple of DLs way down in the noise who were not really workable. I went
to 40m early, planning to go back to 20m hoping that skip would change a
bit.

Paolo I2UIY did a massive mailing a couple of years ago, but as I said
the concept of having to be quick and agile in tuning in new stations to
work doesn't seem to appeal to Eu contesters. You've got to wait until
September to hear the NA sprint but I really recommend having a listen
on 40m an hour into their contest: you get an adrenaline rush just
listening to it!

Of course part of the reason for lack of sprint activity on 20m this
time was that the Russians were all waiting for WSEM to start.

It's possible that the date problem may have arisen because of the split
weekend at the beginning of the month, 1st April being a Sunday but we
plan to contact the Russians and find out.

Cheers, Dave G4BUO
