At the risk of being hung drawn and quartered.
I guess in the world view of things ROPOCO must be at least 1,001 in the
top list of 100 things to do.
Its a very parochial contest entirely for the UK, with a low number of
entrants (in global terms).
I guess it just isnt important enough for a software writer to spend
some time writing up a module. An american probably doesn't understand
rotating post codes in any case.
I think it is just too much to expect software writers to accomodate
every contest in the world. I guess they too have a life, and like to
spend a little time in front of the radio from time to time.
I have met Olivier and Larry of Win-Test several times over a beer and
they are great and wonderful nice people and I think everybody on this
reflector will agree they are one of the most responsive and helpful
teams around. However, they first wrote this software for their OWN
use at their OWN Contest station and after a few pleaders, made the
software available to others. Now, at the drop of a hat we expect them
to continually update and develop their software to take account of
everybody in the world's, own particular foibles, wants and needs, and
we expect them to do this instantly without any additional cost.
Just the other day at work I asked a software company to modify a query
so I could extract an additional piece of information and was quoted
£100 per hour.....
Amateur Radio is a hobby not only to us, but to most of the ham radio
software writers out there also. I think we should not forget this.
The costs we pay for Win-test etc does not reflect the true cost in time
and effort. Oh, and N1MM was free the last time I looked. Who pays
for the writer's timer?
Donning my flame proof overall
