Been away most of the weekend and just back reading some of the mails.
For information, we now have just shy of 1100 logs received, with 755
activated. So the system appears to be working well. Marios and I have had
to do very little manual work so far. While I appreciate that "it's nice to
get a human response", Marios is currently working 100 hours a week (he's
now back in hospital practice, following his PhD - need I say more) and I am
busy with final preparations for 3B7C. The automated process works extremely
well and most of the hiccups so far do appear to be from the automated
responses being trapped by over-aggressive spam filters.
As most of you will be aware, I will be away for all of September in 3B7,
but Jim MM0BQI has kindly offered to help with adjudcation this year (the
whole system is web based, which makes life easier for us). I would normally
expect that we needto manually check about 14,000 QSOs where the two sides
don't tally - this is a non-trivial process but I would be unhappy about
going the CQWW route and leaving the adjudication entirely to the robot. I
have cross checked about 800 mismatches so far - we can start cross-checking
the moment the logs start to come in. But the final reckoning won't come
until after I'm back from 3B7 - unlikely to be anything for the HF
Convention this year I'm afraid. However, the sooner logs are received the
more that can be done before I go away, so please don't hold back to the
last-minute to make your submission.
