Tried to post this a week or so ago, but had some problems in sending it.
Might still be interesting to someone.....
Thought some might like to see this; since it is from an average antenna
only... May be long ! Hopefully it may inspire some others to try at the
sharp end a bit more!

======================================
TOTAL SCORE : 814 164
According to the summary report; a total of 21hrs 20 mins operating.
Equipment - FT1000MP, ETO 91B; Butternut HF6V. Maybe next year I will try
with a miracle whip !!!!
Software - WinTest
Had great fun; been a long time since I tried to have "serious play" in a
contest from an average set up (we couldn't get to MD4K this year). I
decided I would sharpen up my S&P a bit; and never called CQ (well, only to
fine tune the amp). It was hard work; and I needed to have numerous breaks.
G4XUM insisted on taking me out for a beer also on Saturday night (which is
a 2 mile walk either way); and I still managed to get on for 45 mins before
crashing.
Still managed some hours with over 60 QSO's (76 was my best); and as I said
; S&P ing only !!! I never expected to work over 100C on 40m; and am
pleased with my 80m efforts as well. As ever, there are always getaways !!!
Added some new band spots, which will help the DXCC Challenge scores on a
bit. I uploaded my logs to LOTW already; and that added another 10 to my
score tonight (including 4O3T !)
I used assisted, but the best tactic was to sweep the band; maybe making
side excursions to the spots. There were many new ones I found before they
got spotted ! For some stations, it payed to move freq slightly to find
the best spot. No alligator here, but just trying my best !
Band issues
===========
I am big enough to accept that there are issues; but have to admit I was
surprised at the spread on some bands. by band:
80m - No major issues, but saw S79UU spotted on 3700 QSX 3530 ! Took my
brain a long time to work out what was going on ! And I worked him no
problems !
40m - Heard stations all the way up to 7080; didn't hear much jamming by
the SSB ops (actually seemed thin on the ground). Are they more tolerant
than the CW ops ??
20m - This was the surprise to me. Stations as high as 14.140 !!!! I
thought that the lower 100 KHz would have been enough ; and it didn't seem
packed down there !
