As I keep having to say - if it's not one thing it's another! My dipole snapped in the (very strong) wind at 2333z and that was that. Now, it's been up there for about 9 years and has never let me down! Turns out that the wire had 'melted' or had broken in a catasptrophic 'burny' sort of way. Very strange. I can imagine this would happen if the wire came into contact with earth or a tree, but it didn't.
Top band reminds me of 144MHz at times. And strangely my first US QSO was with N1BUG, a call I have worked many times on 144MHz EME!

I worked 154 Q's for 792 points using an FT1000mp and dipole + 2 bevs and 2 Ewes.
