Just my two penneth about this, John I totally agree with you about the bottom of the bands and I am sure the vast majority of the weekend amateurs agree that there should be a contest free segment on all the bands which should be enforced by the relevent countries contest organisors by disqualifying any operator in the protected segment.
But this has been said time and time again over the years and here we again saying the same things again. Maybe the RSGB could take this up on its own and see if the other countries listen to what it is trying to do?
Anyway thats me done on the matter, see you all in the DATA mode CC tonight please bear with me as I have never done a DATA contest before!
Cheers

Don and All
IMHO I thought that Region-1 and in particular Europe had tried (maybe not
succeeded) to harmonise the whole debate on contests and preferred segments.
The bottom 10-Khz of every band ought to be free of contesting although some
would prefer 20-25Khz I am sure. Will be fun again this weekend with the
ARRL Dx CW. At the end of the day not every contester wants to spend every
weekend contesting even if they are only 4-hr sessions.
