[UK-CONTEST] FT Key Clicks & ALC

Chris,

I had a look at this a few days ago on my Mk V. I don't think you can be
doing it right if you can't see the ALC level reduce when you adjust the TX
IF amp gain - you need to select the band on the menu then select the band
on the radio then adjust one band at a time. 15 is not right at all and is
not the usual default level.

In the service manual they describe a different method of setting the levels
which would be the method by which your radio would have been set up when it
left the factory. I wasn't willing to trust W8JI's method completely so I
just reduced the gain slightly and ended up with:

9-2 TX IF Amplifier Gain
TIF-018 7 6
TIF-035 6 5
TIF-070 6 5
TIF-100 6 5
TIF-140 7 6
TIF-180 7 6
TIF-210 7	6
TIF-245 7 6
TIF-280 8 7
TIF-290 9 7

The first column of settings shows the ex-factory settings and the second
column the settings which I ended up with. These figures will be different
for different radios due to manufacturing tolerances so you do need to do to
set up your particular radio.
