Agree Don.  And if you are quick, the place to buy it is the London 
Boat Show (on right now). I was there yesterday and bought some rope 
from English Braids http://www.englishbraids.com/ - but that was for 
its intended purpose i.e. mooring ropes for my boat!

Apart from Marlow and EB, nother good source of rope at discount 
prices is Jimmy Green Marine (http://www.jimmygreen.co.uk/).  I have 
found that all of these guys are only too pleased to discuss what you 
should use and the type, diameter etc. etc.  Remember also that 
splicing and knotting ropes can have an adverse impact on its load 
bearing capabilities.
