[UK-CONTEST] A record AFS-SSB?

Greatest AFS-SSB ever! I just couldn't believe it. I got 133 in the first
hour, then was amazed/dumb-founded when G0AAA (aka Ian G3WVG) gave me 271 to
my 228.
Ian's 172Q's in the first hour of AFS must be a record. Anyone claim a
higher first-hour score in AFS, ever?
Never had the luxury of a totally clear frequency (unlike in AFS-CW!) the
entire contest, except for ten minutes on 3750 at the very end. I was
conciously not responding to stations when they were just too weak to
reliably get a callsign/serial number through the constantly clobbering QRM.
I just hoped that they'd call again when/if conditions improved.
BTW what's a DO-station? I've never heard/worked so many of them. Are they
German M3's/2E0's or summat?
The greater volume of UK Stations may well be a knock-on effect of the
(excellent) 80m CCs.
Finished up with 393 gross/net (no DUPs).
73 - Nigel G3TXF
PS: A hot lemon drink with honey was much needed after the contest (didn't
use any DVK!)
