[UK-CONTEST] ADSL off Topic, but....

Hi all
I recall that one or two people on this reflector had a good knowledge of how ADSl / Telephony systems work....

We have had an ADSL outage for the last 8 days. BT Broadband (ISP) blame the line. The PSTN (Line) say all is OK.

Here's the symptoms:

Phone works, but audio is very faint. Can hardly hear anything either end of circuit. Broadband has been non existant for last 8 days. The original Router (BT provided) has failed, and whilst I await a replacement from BT, I am using a D Link DSL 504G (I think) Router. All is set up correctly, and the configuration is correct.

I am waiting for BT to get back to me (again!) regarding line testing. In the mean time does anyone have any experience of how to get this escalated within BT ?

At the moment, I can only get at my email through work, or a very slow Mobile Phone connection, which limits email facilities (SMTP relaying is blocked).

Any answers or help gratefully recieved, but please email off group to my work account; adrian.rees at cfs.co.uk

If anyone is trying to contact me (I think one or two are, regarding Versatower bits and pieces) again via the work email account or mobile: 07939 407972.

Regards

Adrian Rees MW1LCR
