[UK-CONTEST] Software Poll

I agree with Ian - whichever one you use its best to use it for general
dxing too, for the reasons stated.

I have used CT and SD / SDV but mainly N1MM since I moved over to windows
operating from dos.

Why N1MM? The networking side is usually solid, works well with the cluster
for multi op, and its well supported - oh yes, and its free :-)

I notice that a lot of guys have switched over to wintest - I had a brief
look at it earlier this year but am having a break from contesting here so
haven't invested enough time yet to decide whether its better than N1MM.

By the time I get my antennas and masts sorted out I'll probably need to re
learn how to use a radio let alone the contest software :-)

There are lots of different personal viewpoints on this.

For me, the most important thing is to use the SAME operating software
all the time, by using the contesting software in its 'General Logging'
mode outside of contests. I have always found that far more important
than the actual choice of software.

>And if you have time to explain why please.

Because you only have to learn one set of operating reflexes - every day
you go on the air, you are training yourself for contesting.

It also avoids those Friday-evening "config panics". You've had days,
weeks and months to tweak the hardware/software configuration so it's
just right for you, and the whole setup process stays fresh and
familiar.

Compared to that, the specific choice of software is almost incidental.
