Peter,

I notice that you didn't give Chris an answer as to how to rig up a gin pole
but instead a falling-derrick system!!!  I suspect your mind-reading of his
real question was correct anyway!

A gin pole is used for raising things vertically for example adding a
section on a free-standing tower the lower sections of which are already in
place.

Reg, G8VHI can give chapter and verse on gin poles I am sure.
