I'm a professional and I'd sack one of mine for describing a derrick as
a gin pole - as you know, they are two different things :-)
I'd be quite dis chuffed if I had a few hundred feet to climb to explain
what I really wanted rigging up to move something.
My background in this is overhead line poles, (Signalling and Telecom
not power)and some of the terms we used all those years ago are
different to what we now use in modern antenna erection, for example the
term falling derrick has incorrectly become common usage for what Chris
is actually asking about..
I must be fairly bored tonight :-/
