Some years ago I used to enjoy this contest, and I was not alone. G3FXB, 
SXW, MXJ etc. were also regular participants. Then the Germans went and 
ruined it, by allowing everyone to use packet.

If, like me, you don't like to have your multipliers found for you, but 
feel that single op. should mean precisely that, then you're stuck. At 
least the other major contests such as CQWW have separate assisted and 
unassisted categories, but DARC by changing the rule force you to use 
packet if you want to be competitive. It's an extra shame because the 
QTC element is enjoyable and adds an extra level of skill, but since 
they changed the rule I haven't wanted to make any sort of entry.
