I think your assumptions are wrong Peter
For the CW events; quite a few people I speak to realised that it is getting
more difficult in CW events to field teams of 5; so I certainly lobbied the
Committee for parity with the SSB event.
The SSB event (I think!) was a great success; and has more entrants.
So, what the Committee have done, is reduced the size of the CW team to 4;
and increased the SSB team size to 4 from 3; and they also have parity
between the events.
I think the Committee should be thanked for listening to opinion !

As far as I know (which is not a lot about 80 phone I admit) the vast
majority of Sunday nets are in the morning. Saturday afternoon is grossly
inconvenient for all sorts of reasons and I suspect this applies to most
people with any sort of life.

This is really bad news Dave. I hate to think about who might have lobbied
for this. As far as I can recall no-one has suggested it in their soapbox
comments. I thought the phone section was initially limited to 4 operators
because of uncertainty about the level of entry and it has just stuck over
the years as a result of inertia. This is playing into the hands of the
small specialist contest groups at the expense of the regional clubs, for
whom the event was conceived.
