Another enjoyable CQWW, this year by myself. Told the children that I was
away on business and locked myself in the shack until Monday morning for the
school run.

I had a strange, sleep-deprived (hopefully) expererince at 9pm on Saturday.
Found myself at a total loss as to where I was and what I was doing. I
recall just staring at the computer for a few seconds trying to work out if
this was a dream or reality, whether the contest was about to start or had
just finished and why I could hear CW yet the headphones were on the table.
(I was wearing another pair.). I had not slept since getting up at 6am on
Friday. So had an extra two hours sleep over the three that I planned. In
all, it was a total of 43 hours in front of an MP. But preferable to
appearing in front of several MPs, as I am required to do occasionally at
Select Committee hearings.

I guess the highlights were being called by four different TFs on various
bands, by 3X5A on 160m to complete all six bands, and running streams of Ws
on 20m. In fact, after being spotted, the pile-up of Ws was so large that I
resorted to using the dit-dit mode of operating and sent the call every five
Qs. That comment will probably make SJJ's head explode.

The prize for the fastest sending must go to V47NT, or is it just the V4 at
the beginning that makes it seem harder to work out?. The 5J0 caused
similar confusion, with several spots for HJ0.

I set myself a target of 10,000 QSOs in 2007. I am now 150 short of it, but
with a week off work and the ARRL 10m contest, that should be a doddle.

Operating Time (hrs): 43
