[UK-CONTEST] CQWW 08

I think that I could claim the lowest G score so far in this years CW CQWW
(I've never entered the event despite having been licensed for over 50 yrs
maybe it's not too late to start?).
having decided just to have a go on 15m single o/p unassisted as I wasn't
intending to spend the whole weekend on the air and wasn't going to miss any
sleep to operate on the lower bands.
Conditions on 15m were even worse than predicted unless anyone know
differently.....
According to N1MM my numbers are 63/31/13 & 6864, running 400W (2 x 4CX250B)
into a 2 ele tribander @ 35 ft. I noted that one of the few American
stations worked was
putting in a consistently several S points above the other W's that I could
hear I wonder how they did that?
How do so called 'operators' expect stations in the unassisted category to
know who they are hearing when callsigns are sent infrequently and then at
high speed just when you're not expecting it. If only we could put the DX
cluster genie back in the bottle.
The guys who really know how to operate manage to send their callsign for
every QSO, there should be a rule for all contests - no callsign exchange
no points. The advantage of being on 15m is that very few of the stations
from eastern Europe with their apparently appalling behaviour are audible,
it's sad the way the hobby is degenerating.
It's not just on HF where standards are falling either, those who read
Radcom may have noticed the letter about the stations (no callsigns - they
rarely use them) in the Worcester area who use 144.475 in the 2m beacon band
as a 'private' FM chat frequency, when challenged they simply say 'our
licence say we can so we will'. Of course band plans are only a gentlemen's
agreement which obviously doesn't apply in this case.
73...
