Saw someone asking for info on this subject a day or two ago and don't recall seeing any responses although I may have missed it.

FWIIW we had some awful looking taps, lime-scaled, oxidised, tarnished and pitted looking, none of the proprietary stuff we had would touch them.

We saw Sillit Bang advertised on tv and tried it. Those taps came up like new, I was quite amused by the continual utterances from my partner 'well I never'. Well worth a try but you will need to 'read what it says on the tin' as like Dettol and a few other things it comes in about 20 varieties, all alleged to be for different purposes.
