[UK-CONTEST] Sprint exchanges

Sorry that I deleted Stewart's original post and therefore trashed the
subject line.

Stewart is right that poor procedures seem endemic, and this also
applies in the "big boys' " events like the Eu sprint. For a tutorial on
how it should be done, check one of the US events; those blokes are
super slick.

I suspect that this problem is exacerbated by the lack of modal
functionality ( that's ESM in plain English!) in some loggers. I know
that Wintest ( inexplicably) and Writelog ( dinosaurial) lack this
facility whilst N1MM and ( I believe) SD do offer it, as did the
granddaddy of them all TRlog in its era.

So e.g. in N1MM my run mode exchange would be

! * # din {S&P}

and my S&P exchange  is

! # din * {RUN}

I just hit return to invoke either of these .

< evangelism mode on>

"I mean, why would you operate any other way?"

<evangelism mode off>

Explanation

! = his call
* = my call
# = serial number
din = my own nickname
( clive is just tooooo cumbersome, din was my father's name, which I
hope he'd appreciate)
{S&P}= a macro to put the prog. into S&P mode
{RUN} = a macro to put the prog. into run mode
