I can confirm that the chairman of the then DCC (now part of the ETCC) 
was consulted when the initial enquiry was made for the use of the GB7HQ 
callsign.   Although normally reserved for data nodes and mailboxes and 
more recently for Data Regenerative Nodes (digital repeaters) these 
recommendations are not cast in stone.   The then DCC was in full 
agreement with the issuing of this variation and Ofcom was advised 
accordingly.
