[UK-CONTEST] Tower Planning Application

Hi Darrell
The planning people at the council objected my application on the grounds that it would be seen from a distance. The fact that non of my neighbours objected, was immaterial to the Council.(Although in most circumstances neighbours objections are the primary source of a refusal, I guess.)
Apply for an "80 or 100 Foot, to support experimental aerials", don specify any type of aerials as its worth pointing out that the aerials may change from time to time, but will all be used in conjunction with your Ofcom regulated hobby.I originally had the the refusal, which came in the form of an outright rejection.
I put a PowerPoint Slide pack together, and carried out terrain analysis together with a photographic survey to prove that my Towers could not be seen from the locations the planning people thought they could be seen from.
I followed this up with a telephone call to the person involved at the council, and used the "Cap in Hand" approach, along the lines of "well what height would you suggest ?". At this point the planner had "no idea" and I took the oppertunity to arrange a meeting and present the slide pack.Worked a treat.
My location is also on agricultural land, and I had no problem, eventually.
I also spoke to the RSGB Planning Committee and I received some very useful help and advice.
I have recently changed the planning consent, which is now for 7 towers and 3 masts, all at 60 - 80 feet.
If you (or any one else) wants the Slide Pack (in Power Point) or you want some terrain analysis doing (see the slide pack first) then email me off list, and I'll see what I can do.

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] Tower Planning Application
Hi all,
I'm just about to go for planning permission for a tower, grateful for any thoughts/advice from the contesting community.
In particular, what are your thoughts on:
- Location - I hope to install the tower on what is currently agricultural land - is that likely to make it harder /easier from a planning perspective?
- Height - hoping to get a P60, with stub mast that'll be 70ft, will that frighten them off? Plan to keep it lowered most of the time.
- Neighbours - well, I don't have any immediate ones (farmland on 2 sides of the property, main road and lane on the other sides - will anyone be able to legitimately complain (there's a guy about half a mile away who may have something to say, doesn't like any change in the village)?
- Mast - I've picked up on calling it a 'mast' rather than a 'tower', are there likely to be restrictions on what I put on it (want to minimise this as I'm always swapping aerials).
I spoke to the planners 2 years ago when I put in an application for an extension, they seemed favourable given the location, just want to get it right first time, so grateful for any tips.
Thanks and 73
Darrell
