Hi all,

Got my feet wet with my first ever data contest tonight.
Apologies to anyone who I experimented on by trying to work you.
(Particularly G4EOF who I called many times on RTTY without success)!

The PSK was easy ... managed to S&P and get my CQ calls answered. I
spent the first 40 mins on PSK - is there a convention for when
people do each mode and switch? My RTTY using the same software and
set-up was less successful - I need to take a look at it more ... not
sure that people found my signal easy to copy on RTTY.

I don't run Windoze if I can help it - so was using W7AY's CocoaModem
software in contest mode - which I can recommend if there are any
other Mac OSX users out there considering datamodes. Again I need a
bit more practice at configuring it and the macros but will be fine.
Seemed to produce a decent Cabrillo log too.

Only 12 Qs in all - but learnt a lot. I don't think data will ever
be my fave contest type but it was interesting. I wouldn't want to
spend more than 90 mins at a time on data contesting personally!
Roll on CW !

Oh and had to use my backup rig FT847 coz my first rig is out of
action. 100w to a Full wave horiz 80m loop.

Heard loads of PSK stations from continental Europe who weren't
contesting. Is that usually the case in these?
