What would really be helpful is some QSOs/Hour figures to help the UK
entrants in the 12 hour section.

It is obviously going to change over the years as the sunspot cycle
changes, but currently my own figures tend to suggest 1000-1200,
1300-1800, 2100-0000 and 0600-0800. This sems to cover the peak eastern
VE activity ans well as sr and SS times in the UK and the other areass
of activity. You probably need to allow a 15 to 20 minutes leeway. For
instance, I was monitoring prior to my 2100 stint and heard some
activity so decided to start at 2045. I had to concede VQ9JC as a
gotaway as he was well outside my chosen slots. I also made the decision
to finish after 2 hours since my QSO total for the 2nd hour was only 10
compared with 16 last year. I am not sure if this was a good idea as I
then tagged that hour on to the morning session but at 0830 had only
found 4 stations in the half hour so called it a day. I also prefer to
search and pounce rather than continually CQ for virtually no return. I
guess about 90% of my 170 odd QSOs were made S&P.

I really do think that for UK guys without big league stations the 12
hour section is a nice activity session to make QSOs outside of Europe
(apart from 9H & ZB2) as well as presenting a fascinating challenge of
tactics to maximise results.

Maybe a section in the RadCom/Web reports could be devoted to maximising
efforts for UK 12 hours participation.
