Thanks everyone for the responses. Some useful pointers but the best was
from Bob G1ZJP. Silicone sealant. Found I still had some external grade
sealant left and squirted it into each element end. When it has cured I
can trim the excess off with a sharp Stanley knife.
I enjoy designing and building antennas, and even more so when I can do
it cheaply. Total cost so far for the 3 el 6m yagi project is 12 quid
for a new 13mm drill bit to fabricate the gamma match and a quid or so
for some bits of heat shrink. I haven't built anything higher than 28MHz
so it was quite a buzz tuning the gamma and getting a good 1:1 on 50.1,
then it rained again!
Since I have nowhere to take the K3 for NFD though I might try the UKSMG
6 metre contest!
