Hello
I did an hour or two in UKAC this month after..well, few months of
giving it a miss and was surprised to work OK1RI and far DLs, but
I was more pleased with stunning signals of some GMs! It seems I really
have good site for inter UK contacts in Harlow and I hope I was load as
they.
Still, 1 pt/km seems standard for 24h contests, shorter periods (OK,9A
etc.) Sored as: 2 Points for same BIG WWL as yourself, 3 for neighbor
WWL and in the next WWL zone 1 point more, etc. Then final score is QSO
Points x WWL. That is similar to UKAC apart from advantage for long
distance QSOs.
But anyway, different area, different criteria as we use to say...
I have seen pretty good activity to begin with and the it slowed quite a
lot. I even did few CW QSOs and haven't heard anyone else CQing in CW.
How about extra point for CW QSO :-D (joke).
I even thought that Open section is just too wide, those guys with 9el
tonna on top of weird Welsh mountain with force 9 gales and a tent
should have extra category (OB?) Open - Brave hihi, as I think it takes
different approach then having just Open as Multi op.
Ray, where where you in UKAC 2m last week??? ;-)

I believe it could Ray.
As you also mentioned, the PL postcode is not that common and it alone
would spur more folk throughout the UK to look your way and either CQ or
listen for yours in the hope of picking up some west country PC
multipliers and as a bonus some good points per kilometre.
So you would be more audible 'cos folk will be listening south west more
than they do with M2 where squares mean prizes and they're more of them
the further east/south east you go.
You could become the DEZ of the South West and get a lot more enjoyment
out of your 2.5 hour stint, and like me, just enjoying the activity
without any thoughts of winning. If you did win one or more of the
monthly events then that would be great for you and UK activity.
Thanks for your interesting input.
