Hi
I had real problems with my Vista laptop in a similar way with Turbolog 4 .
It would not update using the program that worked on my XP PC. The trick turned out to be using 'run as administrator' option. Even if you have only one account on Vista it does not always give that account full admin privileges and the run as administrator option seems to be there for that purpose. Before I discovered that I had already created an Administrator account on the Laptop which runs updates to TL4 just fine!! In my case it would not let me update any of the database files!
However I think the logic is that Vista tries to protect you from breaking your computer by making the 'run as admin' a deliberate action.
I now use my admin account for updates and my normal account for general use.
The other problem I had was using Mike's VHF logger Minos. Vista did not save the log files etc. where it said it was saving them and it took some hunting to work out where they were. This seems to be another little Vista trick to fool the innocent. I just bought a 'Vista for Dummies' book and am busy trying to educate myself!! (it is about my level ;-) )
cheers
Good Luck
