[UK-CONTEST] encouraging youngsters

I have to have a CRB check for my job. What annoys me is that I have to have
one every three years. But a teacher or scout leader only has one when
applying for the post.
I was informed by someone that it only covers my job, and if I was to go
somewhere else I would require a fresh application.
But I must for once, agree with Roger G3SXW, that it is a burocrats dream
and is really unnecessary. If you have been caught you will be on the sex
offenders list. But you might not have a criminal record. So it can be a
wasre of time and money. How often have we seen "We done all the checks
required, and nothing showed up" But they were on the sex offenders register

You're right, Laurence, and it costs £30-odd each time. What a con:
employment agencies charge you up to double that official fee to cover their
'overheads' so they're making a killing. CRBs really must be made portable.
Or preferably scrapped altogether: they do not prevent paedophilia they
merely report whether someone has been caught doing it in the past. Bonkers!
Sorry . . . back to contesting. We fly to 3X5A on Sunday. We need the
points, everyone: please call us on six bands! Good luck in the contest, old
man!
