Can I add my support for the 21/28 contest? It's a fairly unique event and
one I've enjoyed entering over a number of years. It'll be good again when
the sun wakes up. The past couple for years have produced some quite
interesting condx, with Es giving plenty of contacts in 2006 and 2007 (more
so in 2006).

The condx are there on the higher bands - I've entered 10 HF contests this
year with a simple setup (multiband vert & 100W) and had plenty of 15m QSOs
in each of them (inc 9M2 on 15m RTTY last weekend), and some on 10m,
including some QSOs with the Caribbean. It's just that you have to work at
it a lot more, and in 21/28 don't have the option of QSY'ing down to 20m
when it goes quiet.

Having said that, it's with a little smugness that I'll admit I missed the
whole event yesterday - for some reason, I'd put it in the diary for next
weekend and taken the aerial down for some maintenance.

And my perspective is from a VHF ops point of view, where hours and hours
spent on 2m or 6m with just the odd QSO is not an unusual experience ;-)

Lets hope for some more sunpots next year.
