My rant this weekend concerns oompah-audio (aka 'FatBoy Audio').  Perhaps a 
new slant on 'boom' mics :>)  I probably notice this more than most as I only 
have the  stock yaesu 2.4khz filter in my radio for SSB, notorious for it's 
mediocre shape factor.  Using the AF DSP however, I can emulate a 1.8khz 
bandwidth and it's noticeable how much 'energy' is lost when I hit the button with 
many stations.  Folks with appropriate IF filters likely notice the same thing, 
or maybe not if they are in cct all the time.  Rig mics and EQ settings seem to 
be heading down this route nowadays, which whilst creating a noticeable 
'presence' at the s9 plus level, is actually pretty 'pants'  at S3.  Rant <off> :>)
