Don't forget the FT817 which is smaller than the '290 and has the added
benefit of the HF bands and 70 cm as well, on the downside it's a lot more
complicated to operate unless you control it with a PC which rather defeats
the object. I for one can't remember what all 93 menu items do without
reference to the handbook, after owning one for six months I'm still asking
myself 'what's it doing now'?
