Blimey! All this nostalgia. A sign of the greying amateur population, at least those chipping in on this reflector, I suspect. It always used to be said, and I definitely subscribe to the notion, that 'serving your time' as an SWL was no bad thing. I rather overdid that phase of my amateur radio career as A8482 (from late 1972 I think) then BRS35943.....10 years until I got round to taking the test.
.......and despite feeding him allegedly insufficient tea, wine, and every food group known to the human stomach (only kidding) I did not manage to get many of the answers to the nostalgia quiz from its author, as we wrestled in the rain and wind with my new 40m 4-square (which WORKS!).....thanks WOJ
