IMHO you have made an incredibly good decision!

Can make no claim to having tried all the radios but I did once borrow 
an 830 for a week 'on approval' - I hmmmed and harrred for quite a 
while 'agonising' about the 'old' technology involving valves and that 
decided against the purchase.

What a daft decision!    And I wish I could turn back the clock - the 
830 is THE best radio I have ever used for receive (and fine on TXmit 
too).
