Hi John & Group,

In answer to one of your points and as you've requested readers 'thoughts'

>3. The 6m Trophy contest, although a popular and well supported contest
>(by VHF standards), is not so busy that groups could not put a bit of
resource
>into the 4m section.

It's the 'not so busy' point I'm trying to answer here.

With regards to the 6m Trophy. If the band is open with SpE, then we often
see QSO rates of 100+ per hour, and with full exchange required I think
that's a pretty busy band, and high QSO rates often leads to reasonable
results, so I guess it would be a non starter for us to check 4m during this
period to see if I could work one or two there.

If the answer to this would be that more people would be required to work
4m, then, isn't that what VHF field day is aimed at, or, have I
miss-understood your point?
