Other tips...
In normal use, if you don't have a dummy slug, just turn the 'whatever' slug half-way.
Seen a used body at a rally?? Use car keys on slug pick-up contacts to short meter movement.? If it damps, then likely that meter is intact.? Handy as they often look pretty beat-up.

If a Bird meter is put in transit (without the line) - just the 30UA meter,
what can be done to damp the movement that the dummy slug usually does when
the meter is attached to the line?
