Hi Contesters,

I operated on 20M SOLP this year and found it very interesting indeed. I
checked out the sunspot update on the Friday and found we hadn't had any
sunspots all week and so nearly opted for my favourite band 160M but I don't
think it was on form this year? The weather in the Channel Islands was
awful, having lost several ridge tiles the week before on the house; the
weather was predicted as bad again for WW weekend. Indeed, on Sunday morning
winds were Gale force 8-9 and so the tower was kept down at 20 feet for
safety reasons. I thought working the UK would be straight forward but only
popped I think, 3 G's in the log all weekend. Well done to G6PZ who called
me when we were battling for 6W in Africa after sunset and I just heard him
on the back of the beam. I didn't make it to GW,GI either. A late PA3 got in
the log on Sunday when beaming to the Caribbean and I never worked some easy
close by EU countries..not even 1 ON! Highlights were two beautiful
afternoon pipelines to the USA and some choice Asia and Pacific called me
with my puny 100W. The band just died about 1830z and didn't open up until
0630 in the mornings.

Gripes were monster stations that were rare just not giving their calls out.
I wish there was a 5 minute limit or the like on not giving callsign's but I
guess the pile ups would get even bigger then - double edged sword..

Not great propagation for me to the east with the split of worked continents
being:

NA 42%

EU 48%

AS 6%!

AF 1%

+ ROTW

Great fun though and I'm looking forward to next year already. Thanks to all
those who managed to work me, here are the stats:

1009 QSO's 30 Zones 95 Countries 256,125 Points

73
