Don,

There is an overload protection relay on the auxiliary receive input. You have too much RF coming back down your beverage! Perhaps a simple external limiter with a couple of back to back diodes would do the trick but why not put the question on the Elecraft reflector and see if anyone has a fix? 

I also use a beverage on the sub-Rx auxiliary input for diversity reception, but it is physically some distance away from my transmit antennas so don't have the problem.
