I'm a G3 (well GI3 from 1961) and I don't miss it :-)  I know
that when I call someone and hear my callsign, chances are I'm
expected to copy whatever follows my callsign - what more of a
lead does anyone need?

If I'm running and I send callsign and exchange, I know that as
soon as I stop transmitting I just might have to copy whatever
I hear next.  That's not too difficult a concept :-)

When you don't expect to hear 5NN, you don't miss it. Of course,
for as long as you're not used to contest exchanges without
reports, you might miss them.
