I will answer in 2 parts IOTA contest then Olympics in general

Don't we have short contest calls for brevity?
Why would you possibly want a longer call for a contest?

I hate to think of some of the callers you would get, "Fred from Preston" comes to mind giving you his station details, the weather and how his rhubarb crumble is meanwhile the pileup dissapears!

There is no link between the London Olympics and IOTA contest

I doubt you will find much enthusiam for this outside London and the home counties.I for one wont be getting excited about grown men and women running round in circles and playing in sand pits for 2 weeks! I wont be making my way to Hampden Park to watch the football either!

You are calling for a "celebration" in the run up to "London's" olympics, bear in mind there is going to be 70% cuts to lottery funding for good causes in Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and the provinces of England.

The small lottery grants that many Radio clubs have benefited from in the past are just not going to be there. Bear that in mind when you activate 2O12XX.

Britains obsession with winning gold medals means rowing and sailing get a 1/5th of all lottery funding for elite olympic sports, an eye watering £50m can you conceive 2 sports less conducive to mass participation? I bet the kids in sink estates are unlikely to be inspired by a win in the Yngling class!

Perhaps you have been seduced by the idealism

All i see is corruption, drug misuse and an event which is used for political propoganda.
