[UK-CONTEST] IOTA DXpeditions

The basic IOTA rules state that an island must be separated from the
mainland by at least 200m of sea at lowest tide, and I believe this is why
Anglesey is no longer an 'Island' (someone measured the Menai Straits and
they were found lacking). If Ynys Mon has more than 200 metres of 'sea' at
lowest tide separating it from the 'mainland' and fulfils the other
requirements (size, etc) then it qualifies as an 'Island'. The presence of
a bridge, causeway or tunnel may influence the DXpedition status for the
IOTA contest, however.
The same basic IOTA rules indicate that the presence of the Chunnel does not
affect our 'Island' status, but may well prevent anyone coming here and
entering the DXpedition category in the contest (not that I can imagine
anyone wanting to)!
I would hope that the IOTA guys monitor this reflector, particularly in the
run-up to the contest and it would be nice to get some authoritative advice
in cases like this.
